Honor your exceptional board member with a McGuffey Award! CASB will open the submission forms for 2023 in the summer.

We are looking forward to presenting the 2023 McGuffey Awards during our Fall 2023 Regional Meetings. The CASB McGuffey Award honors board members who bring committed and passionate service to their board work. Districts have the opportunity to submit one board member. Honorees are recognized at CASB’s Fall Regional Meetings, featured on our website, and through social media. Please take time to select a member of your board for this worthy recognition.

Consider the following when choosing a board member for this prestigious award:

  • The board member has been actively and positively engaged in the work of the board.
  • The board member has gone above and beyond in their role and responsibilities.
  • The board member actively serves the community.
  • The board member has accomplished or led a major milestone for the district.
  • The board member has demonstrated focus in serving all children in the district.
  • The board member is a positive influence on fellow board members.
  • The board member continuously engages in professional development as an active party of their service to the board and district.
  • The board member is engaged in advocacy efforts for the district.

Your board president or superintendent should facilitate the submission from your district. Please submit a high-resolution photo of your honoree and one of your entire board if you have one available. Most phones take high-quality photos, just no screenshots, please. Email the photo to Bryce Reedy at [email protected].

First published in 1836, the McGuffey Readers were a series of seven books with stories and poems that taught reading and grammar to students as well as help them develop good character qualities. It was one of the most widely used and influential textbooks of its time in transferring knowledge and the virtues required to fulfill the responsibilities of citizenship in a free society.
