What's in this update

CASB Membership Survey on Bylaws open until Monday, August 19, 2019

The member survey asking for feedback on potential changes to the CASB bylaws closes Monday, August 19. As part of good governance, the CASB Board of Directors has been reviewing the bylaws, the rules established by the membership to provide a framework for the Association's operations and governance. The bylaws are owned by the membership and can only be revised by the membership. With that in mind, we are soliciting feedback on several items identified by the CASB Board as potential ways to enhance governance and ensure continuity of experienced board leadership.

The survey deadline is Monday, August 19 — your feedback will provide the CASB Board valuable input.

Lunch and Learn at the Fall Delegate Conference will focus on mental wellness

The mission of Healing Our Youth: Get Educated!, a youth mental health educational program, is to educate teachers, school staff, parents and youth workers on mental health and mental disorders so that youth with a mental health issue can be identified early, receive help and have better outcomes. Amanda Woodward will share excerpts from the program to increase your knowledge of youth mental health so that you can share with your district and schools. This conversation is focused on making our schools healthier and safer places for each and every learner.

Resolutions are due Friday, August 30, 2019

Our members play a critical role in advocacy and helping determine CASB’s legislative platform and priorities. Each summer, we issue a Call for Resolutions request to every member school board as an opportunity to provide input on public education issues for the next legislative session. CASB compiles the proposed resolutions, prepares research data and distributes the information to the Legislative Resolutions Committee below, which reviews resolutions and makes recommendations to the CASB Delegate Assembly. Additionally, the committee reviews legislative proposals, discusses issues and advises CASB staff of the issues school board members would like brought to the attention of the General Assembly.

The Call for Resolutions is now open through Friday, August 30, 2019. Don't forget to login to submit your resolution.
