A Message from the ECLC

Thank you to all of those who have been actively participating in the process to create a new, unified department to oversee the state’s early childhood education systems, including a voluntary universal preschool program. We value your engagement in this process; it’s integral to shaping the future of the system to benefit our youngest learners, their families, and their education and care providers.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last evening for our first monthly Town Hall; if you weren't able to join, you can review the recording here, and we hope to see you next month.

As the process kicks into high gear, our Transition Advisory Group (TAG) and Subgroups will be tasked with answering questions about the future. Among them:

  • What does a successful new unified department of early childhood mean for Colorado?
  • What programs and services must move over to the new department?
  • How can we create a system that serves every child in Colorado?
  • How can universal, voluntary preschool be implemented in an equitable and fair way?

This month’s newsletter explores how you can help answer those key questions. It details how we hope to continue to lift the voices of those closest to children and provides timely updates about recent activities and what’s to come.

We look forward to working alongside you to chart the best path forward for all of Colorado's kids and families.
