Exceptional Children’s Educational Act High-Cost Reimbursement applications

Applications and instructions are available for reimbursement of special ed high-cost student expenditures for the 2022-23 fiscal year. In Administrative Unit and Out of District applications are due Friday, March 1.

Applications opening soon for two Out of School Time program grants

CDE will award approximately $3 million in 21st Century Community Learning Centers funding and approximately $8 million in Colorado Academic Accelerator Program funds. 

Both grant programs seek to establish or expand community learning centers that will accelerate student learning by providing academic support and enrichment as well as family engagement activities in Out of School Time programs. OST programs are regularly attended by students and their families when school is not in session. Applicants to both grants may apply for up to $180,000 per center per year. Both applications will open by Friday, Dec. 15 and are due on Thursday, Feb. 15.

TLCC Survey - Update headcount by Friday, Dec. 1

The 2024 Teaching and Learning Conditions Colorado survey is an anonymous online survey of all school-based educators, building leaders, special service providers and education support professionals that will launch on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

CDE emailed headcount numbers based upon data from the 2022-23 Human Resources Collection to accountability contacts and human resource contacts in November. These count estimates will help determine the number of codes to send each school for staff to access the survey. Districts must confirm the numbers by Friday, Dec. 1.

Computer Science Standards meetings are open to the public

On Nov. 8, the Colorado State Board of Education asked that the Colorado Computer Science Review and Revisions Committee reconvene to revise the K-8 academic standards for computer science in addition to the previously revised high school standards. For the schedule of reconvened meetings or to access the committee meetings via Zoom, visit the Standards Revision webpage.

Public comment for the proposed revisions to the Colorado Academic Standards for Computer Science is open. Colorado residents are invited to provide feedback on the proposed revisions by Friday, Jan. 5. The public comment survey and proposed revisions are available on the Computer Science Standards Review Committee webpage.

Accelerated Exam Fee Program applications open

To increase the number of students who take the AP and IB exams, the Accelerated College Opportunity Exam Fee Grant Program provides funds to high schools to help students pay the exam fees. The application is due by Friday, Jan. 12.

Innovative Learning Opportunities Pilot Program Intent to Apply deadline next week

The Innovative Learning Opportunities Pilot Program supports a variety of learning experiences that usually occur outside of the classroom. Schools interested in participating during the 2024-25 school year should complete the Intent to Apply form by Wednesday, Dec. 6. CDE's Elementary Literacy and School Readiness Office seeks volunteer reviewers to apply to review Instructional Programming in English and Spanish aligned to the READ Act. Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers

The 21st CCLC grant application window for Cohort 11 will open by Friday, Dec. 15, with applications due on Feb. 15. CDE will award approximately $3 million in 21st CCLC funding for Cohort 11, and individual grant awards will range from $50,000 to $180,000 per year per center.
