The 2023 informational performance framework reports containing 2023 CMAS Science for all districts and attendance/truancy results for Alternative Education Campuses have been provided to district accountability contacts via Syncplicity. Join a FAFSA/CASFA Block Party in Denver

Students and families can register to attend the Third Annual Statewide FAFSA/CASFA Block Party and Student Resource Fair at the CU Denver Wellness Center courtesy of CU Denver from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. Students and families can get on-site FASFA/CASFA assistance, participate in scholarship giveaways, and access a resource fair with community exhibitors. The free, statewide, biennial TLCC survey is available now. Because schools and districts need 50% participation to receive results, help ensure your school staff has the opportunity to participate. School support staff can be extra hard to reach, so be sure to leverage classroom relationships, lunch breaks and building team meetings to ensure codes are distributed to everyone. Free Meaningful Career Conversation Trainings available through June 30

Meaningful Career Conversation Trainings are designed for anyone in a position to guide those seeking to enter the workforce, pursue a specific career path or change careers. Sponsored by CDE and created by Colorado Education Initiative and IndigoPathway, the training incorporates comprehensive content, including Individual Career and Academic Planning and its role in career advising. Participants will engage with a variety of resources to help them develop the skill sets, confidence and understanding to support learners of any age in pursuing new career opportunities and pathways.

Colorado Academic Accelerator Grant Program call for application reviewers

The CO-AAP application deadline is Thursday, Feb. 15. If you are interested in reviewing applications, complete an interest form regarding your experience and availability by Monday, Feb. 12. Desired areas of expertise include the implementation of STEM programming (particularly mathematics and science), high impact tutoring, academic enrichment programs, youth development programs or other out-of-school time programs and implementing strategies for equitable, diverse and inclusive educational programs. Responding with your availability does not guarantee your participation. Responses after the deadline will be considered for alternate readers, should the need arise.

Attend an Educator Financial Aid Training in Denver

The second Denver metro region educator financial aid training will be on Friday, Feb. 9, at the University of Colorado Denver Student Commons Building. Use the registration form to join upcoming trainings and check future dates. These one-day, in-person trainings are designed for K-12 school counselors, advisors, educators and those involved with the FAFSA/CASFA processes at their school, organization or agency. Topics include updates and changes on the FAFSA, an overview of CASFA, Individual Career and Academic Plans, the FAFSA Completion Portal, My Colorado Journey and more. Eligible participants who complete this training will receive a $500 stipend as part of House Bill 22-1366 Improving Students’ Postsecondary Options.

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Speaker Series

Register to hear Jessica Martinez, former English language learner director of the year, speak about Strategic Goal Setting for Multilinguals at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22. Martinez will discuss how to plan with the end in mind, develop a vision, set goals and leverage collaborations using WIDA ACCESS data. Attendees will explore the common thread between Seal of Biliteracy, bilingual pathways and goal setting with CLDE directors, administration, teachers and students.

Leveraging family, school, community partnerships in problems of practice

Register for a virtual interactive session on Understanding the Foundations of Family, School, Community, and Partnerships related to highly mobile youth populations at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Highly mobile youth can include unaccompanied minors, housing-insecure students, newcomers, foster youth and more. Review high impact practices and CDE framework information while interacting with other Colorado educators. This session is a CDE cross-department effort led by Paula Gumina, Jessica Stroope, Adrienne Cruz and Victory Molina.

Monthly literacy conversations to support students on READ plans beyond third grade

A Reading, Writing and Communicating Content specialist in the Office of Standards and Instructional Support will host a monthly virtual conversation examining the newly released guidance to support secondary students who remain on READ plans past third grade. The conversations will focus on writing READ plans, goal setting and progress monitoring, effective assessments and collecting a body of evidence to exit a student from a READ plan. The first session will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29. Register for the sessions via Zoom

District Accountability Committee district admin networking

Register to join a virtual networking session at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, for district staff who support DACs to share facilitation strategies, successes, opportunities and collaborative problem-solving. This session will focus on coordination between DACs, districts and local boards.

Colorado Academic Accelerator Program Grants competition open

Colorado’s Academic Accelerator Program applications are due by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15. Intents to Apply are strongly encouraged and are due by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1. 

CDE will host weekly office hours for 30 minutes at 9:30 a.m. every Thursday for potential applicants to ask the CO-AAP team any program or fiscal questions about the Request for Application. To access office hours Zoom links and recordings, application materials, technical assistance opportunities and resources, visit the CO-AAP webpage.

The statewide TLCC survey is live through Friday, Feb. 23. Association representatives or school leaders were sent survey codes the week of Jan. 15. Schools and districts need 50% participation and at least five respondents to receive results. Supporting Community Agriculture and Local Education Systems grant

The U.S. Department of Agriculture  is accepting applications for a two-year SCALES grant, which will provide up to $150,000 to rural School Food Authorities. Applications are due by Monday, Jan. 26. Awards include technical assistance support from Lunch Assist.
