
STUDENT LEADERSHIP ACADEMY 2024
Friday, December 6 - Saturday, December 7 Registration has closed. The 150 cap has been met for CASB's Student Leadership Academy.
Students from across the state convene during CASB's Annual Convention in order to build leadership skills with peers, learn about advocacy, hear from school boards, and meet incredible new friends. Students will walk back into their schools and district with the necessary skills to lead their peers in positive engagement with district leaders and board members in an effort to bring about positive change.
- Program runs from Friday morning through Saturday after lunch
- Students will participate in a variety of activities building on leadership skills
- This is a great opportunity for students to engage in transformational leadership development, partake in hands-on activities, address issues affecting their community, and participate in powerful breakout sessions.
The CASB Student Leadership Academy, designed and facilitated by high school CASB student leaders, focuses on helping attendees hone their leadership skills, develop the tools necessary for effective leadership, and lead their peers to drive positive change and influence in their schools and districts.

- Connecting with other high school students from around the state
- Meeting school board members and superintendents, as well as other education specialists
- Engaging in Student Leadership sessions and activities

Student Leadership Academy Vision and Mission Statements Vision The Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) Student Leadership Academy envisions a future where student leaders are empowered, skilled, and confident advocates for positive change, shaping the direction of their schools and communities. We aim to cultivate a generation of informed, collaborative, and visionary young leaders who drive innovation and foster inclusive, equitable learning environments.
Mission The CASB Student Leadership Academy, led by students for students, is dedicated to equipping young leaders with the skills, knowledge, and tools necessary to become powerful advocates within their school districts. Through collaborative learning experiences, leadership development, and practical engagement opportunities, we inspire and empower students to confidently take action, influence decision-making, and contribute to the success of their schools and communities.

2025 Student Leadership Academy Planning Team Information
Are you ready to shape the future of leadership? The CASB Student Leadership Academy (SLA) will seek dynamic and driven students for its esteemed Student Leadership Planning Team to develop the 2025 SLA program. This is your opportunity to stand at the forefront of leadership excellence, contributing your vision and voice to inspire others. The SLA Planning Team is open to students that will be sophomores and juniors next year. Look for our application information on this page in March 2025.
2024 Student Leadership Academy Information
Student Leadership Academy Convention Dress: Business casual. Because temperatures can vary in the event rooms, it is wise to dress in layers.
Broadmoor Resort Map
Chaperone Requirements and Program: Chaperones MUST STAY with their students during the Student Leadership Academy. Students traveling to Colorado Springs MUST have a chaperone staying at their hotel. Chaperones that are new to CASB's Student Leadership Academy are required to watch our SLA overview in order to understand chaperone duties during the program. Look for this information near the end of October/early November.
Chaperones will be involved in peer to peer facilitated discussions when students are involved in individual and/or group events that do not require chaperones.
Dietary Restrictions: Please make sure to list dietary restrictions when registering students. We are not able to accommodate dietary restrictions that are not related to health issues. Dietary restrictions may include: gluten free, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, and specific food allergies that must be listed.

Saturday, December 7
- 8:00 - 9:15 a.m. Student and Board members breakfast (Broadmoor Hall B)
- 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Students attend General Session
- 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Lunch and wrap up.
