- The CASB Fall Conference and Delegate Assembly is quickly approaching on Oct. 22-23 in Fort Collins. The resolutions approved by the CASB Delegates help to form the CASB’s advocacy efforts at the local, state, and federal levels.
- The 81st Annual CASB Convention: Resilient, Ready, Relentless for Colorado Students will be held on Dec 2-4 at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. DoubleTree Hilton and Marriott Courtyard have available rooms.
ADVOCACY
- CASB Board Seats are now open — the qualifications necessary to serve on the CASB Board are to be a board member of good standing on a Region 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, or Large District local school board that is a member of CASB, and to have the enthusiasm and time to serve on the CASB Board. We must receive your information no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 to be considered.
- CASB 2021 Proposed Resolution Book is now available for member boards. The deadline for submitting your Delegate’s name to CASB for the Delegate Assembly is Monday, September 27, 2021 — send to [email protected]
- All CASB members received their own district’s “Tell Your Story — Money Matters” ESSER document. Learn more about the campaign and reach out to [email protected] if you have questions.
POLICY AND LEGAL
- Special Policy Updates are released on a quarterly basis and are available on our website. Our next SPU will be released on September 30 and will include updates regarding HB21-1055 (board member compensation), HB21-1108 (gender identity expression anti-discrimination), SB21-017 (sexual contact by an educator), as well as updates to reflect the current Graduation Guidelines.
- The 2021 Election resources are available to CASB members on our website.
- Going through a CBI audit? CASB developed a new sample policy and a Criminal History Record Information FAQ last fall to meet CBI’s requirements.

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
- Building a Better Colorado (BBCO) will be hosting conversations in 37 communities this fall. The conversations will be about education topics, including the teaching profession, student success, and school funding and it is by invitation only. If you have been invited, please strongly consider attending and making recommendations to BBCO about others in your district who would bring important, diverse perspectives to the room.
- The State Advisory Council for Parent Involvement in Education (SACPIE) announced six positions to be filled in Dec. 2021 — deadline is Oct 1. Learn more here.
