Deadline Checklist

** School code change request

Districts/LEAs requesting a new school code, school name change, school grade change and/or request for closing a school are required to submit the application, including the superintendent/executive director's signature, on or before Wednesday, June 30 for the 2021-22 school year.
The school code change request forms are located can be found on the CDE website.

The deadline to submit your change request is June 30.

The benefits to submitting on or before June 30th are many:

• Your on-time change requests will be incorporated into the school and district performance frameworks; thus the school characteristics for districts will not need to rely on the previous year’s characteristics.
• For those using the Colorado Performance Management System (RANDA), submitting school code change requests early ensures the school code will be available for use in the performance management system. This is beneficial as it provides the opportunity to make adjustments in the system prior to the start of the evaluation cycle.
• You will ensure that induction programs are attached to the appropriate school code.
• Time to complete the online certification application, a late request would miss the deadline for the online certification application.

We cannot guarantee that your request will be approved if submitted after June 30th deadline.

** Four-day school week application

School districts operating a four-day school week (less than 160 scheduled days per school year) are required to submit a request for approval.

To be considered for the 2021-22 school year, please complete the application via the Directory in Data Pipeline by Tuesday, May 11. Districts requesting approval are not obligated to follow their proposed calendar if their local planning is not finalized.

In addition to submitting the four-day application through Data Pipeline, districts Accredited with Priority Improvement Plan or Accredited with Turnaround Plan that are submitting a district-wide application for all schools within the district to be on a four-day school week need to submit the following additional information separately to Jhon Penn at [email protected]: a copy of their respective school calendars, building class schedules, assembly schedules, bell schedule including lunch time interval and professional development calendar.

CDE will review the additional materials for the use and prioritization of instructional time. The executive director of field services and the associate commissioner of school quality and support must recommend approval of the application before it is forwarded to the commissioner for consideration.

Family Partnerships

School Climate Transformation Grant now accepting applications

The School Climate Transformation Grant supports the development of an integrated approach to school climate that is based in a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and that prioritizes the needs of the whole child. CDE seeks four Local Education Providers (LEP) prioritizing student engagement and family, school, and community partnership (FSCP) strategies within their schools’ and strategic and/or Unified Improvement Plans.
Funding is being offered to build upon and strengthen student engagement and family partnership strategies that are implemented through MTSS.

Approximately $160,000 is available for four awards, from July 1 - Sept. 30. Eligible applicants include school districts, BOCES, and charter schools. Applications are due Friday, May 14, by 11:59 p.m. All application materials are available on CDE’s website.

Health, Wellness & Nutrition

** Hunger relief for Colorado's students

The Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) provides a cash-like benefit for children who are eligible for free/reduced school meals. This benefit allows families to purchase groceries for when their children were not at school to receive meals – even if they obtained grab-n-go meals while in school remotely.

The USDA is requiring a variety of new data sets to disburse benefits to eligible families this year. After last year’s application process, districts across Colorado requested CDE and CDHS implement an auto-issuance system instead of a separate application. In response, CDE and CDHS have worked closely to implement the new plan within USDA parameters.

We are pleased to announce the P-EBT Data Collection is now open and available in the Data Pipeline. Districts are asked to ensure a designated Data Respondent has assigned themselves to the data collection within the Data Pipeline. Data submission deadlines are Friday, April 23; Monday, May 31 and a potential third upload in August.

For support, districts may access recorded webinars and FAQs. Additional resources will be added as available. All resources may be found here.

Questions can be sent to: [email protected].
