CASB Board of Directors Election Timeline and Procedures

Application process will open Friday, September 10, 2021

Nomination deadline

  • Thursday, October 28, 2021 (4 p.m.) for current local board members, including those running for re-election
  • Sunday, November 14, 2021 (4 p.m.) for first-time, newly elected board members

  • Region 1 — 3-year term until December 2024
  • Region 2 — 2-year term until December 2023
  • Region 3 — 3-year term until December 2024
  • Region 4 — 1-year term until December 2022
  • Region 5 — 3-year term until December 2024
  • Region 6 — 3-year term until December 2024
  • Region 7 — 3-year term until December 2024
  • Region 8 — 2-year term until December 2023
  • Region 10 — 1-year term until December 2022
  • Region 11 — 1-year term until December 2022
  • Large District — 2-year term until December 2023
  • Large District —3-year term until December 2024

The qualifications necessary to serve on the CASB Board are to be a board member of good standing on a Region 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, or Large District local school board that is a member of CASB, and to have the enthusiasm and time to serve on the CASB Board. For your convenience, here is a list of districts by CASB region.

*Large district seats are open to board members from the following member districts:  Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Aurora Public Schools, Cherry Creek Schools, Denver Public Schools, Douglas County RE-1, and Jeffco Public Schools.

All nominees, both incumbents and non-incumbents, must follow the same nomination procedures. If elected to the CASB Board of Directors, candidates will commit to our Board of Directors equity work. All nominations must include:

A. A one-page letter of intent from the candidate. Letter of intent may not exceed 300 words and must:

  • Identify the board seat to which he or she is seeking election
  • Describe why he or she wants to serve on the board of directors
  • Describe why he or she is well-qualified to serve on the CASB Board of Directors

B. Two letters of recommendation. (No more than two letters will be accepted.)

  • Letters should be limited to one page and generally address or describe the qualities that would make the candidate a valuable member of the CASB Board of Directors.
  • The superintendent or other employee of the candidate’s school district may not submit a letter of recommendation.
  • At least one recommendation must come from a person who has not served together with the candidate on his or her local board of education.

C. Answer the following two questions prepared by the CASB Board Leadership Committee. Answers to each question may not exceed 150 words. CASB reserves the right to edit entries for length.

  • Describe your understanding of CASB’s role as a membership organization and how you see yourself becoming an effective contributor on the CASB Board of Directors? (150-word limit)
  • Given CASB's priorities of leadership, advocacy, fiscal solutions, and local governance, please choose one and tell us how you would contribute to advancing this priority as a new CASB board member? (150-word limit)
NOTE: The letters of intent and answers to candidate questions will be published in a candidate booklet to be distributed electronically to CASB delegates before the annual business meeting. These documents provide a glimpse of your experience to our members. Please type all entries and check spelling. CASB reserves the right to edit entries for length.


A link to the candidates' profiles will be provided to the membership by Monday, November 22, 2021.

CASB Board of Directors Election
The Annual Business Meeting will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 during CASB's annual convention. Each candidate will be asked to submit a two-minute statement to the voting delegates.
