Leading Innovation

Leading innovation in your local district is not just a job for school administrators! The school board has a very important role, particularly in the areas of systems thinking, community engagement and policy development—three core areas of effective board work.

CASB offers training and tools to help school boards lead the way in their local communities as their districts face unprecedented change. Through a grant from the Colorado Education Initiative (CEI), formally known as the Colorado Legacy Foundation, as part of a larger Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant, CASB piloted its training with 12 of Colorado’s 13 Integration District school boards. The training helped these boards better understand and exercise their role in the implementation of standards, accountability and educator effectiveness, as well as other changes to Colorado’s education landscape.
